Aspen #5

A quaking aspen clump is a multi-stemmed cluster of Populus tremuloides trees that share a connected root system.

• Appearance: Features smooth, greenish-white to stark white bark with rounded, dark-green leaves that turn vibrant golden-yellow in the fall.
• The "Quake": Flattened leaf stems (petioles) make the leaves tremble and whisper even in a light breeze.
• Growth & Size: Clumps typically mature to a height of 40 to 60 feet and a spread of 20 to 30 feet, depending on local soil and climate.
• Clonal Nature: Individual trees in a clump or grove are often genetically identical and send out underground root suckers to expand.
• Hardiness: Thrives in USDA Hardiness Zones 2 through 7.
• Sunlight: Prefers full sun to partial shade.
• Soil: Adaptable to normal, clay, rocky, or moist soils, though they perform best with adequate moisture and good drainage.
